Dear [NAME],

Thanks for your email. It was great to hear from you.

As for your questions, [COMPLETE ANSWER TO QUESTION 1]. [COMPLETE ANSWER TO QUESTION 2]. [COMPLETE ANSWER TO QUESTION 3].

Now I’d like to ask you about [TOPIC SPECIFIED IN THE TASK]. [QUESTION 1]? [QUESTION 2]? [QUESTION 3]?

That’s all for now. Write back soon.

Best wishes,
[YOUR FIRST NAME]

How to fill it in

Answer the questions directly

Include every part of each question. When a question asks what and why, giving only what is incomplete.

Start with one sentence per question, adding another sentence when an explanation or detail is needed. There is no need for a longer introduction such as “In your email you asked me a few questions. Well, let me answer them.”

Ask three relevant questions

Check your questions against the instruction beneath the email. Ask about that exact topic, and do not request information your friend has already provided.

For a task asking about a stadium, possible questions are:

How many people can the stadium hold? Does it have a roof? Where is it located?

Use these only when they fit the instruction and the original email does not already answer them.

Keep the email layout

On the answer sheet, start with “Dear…”. Do not add a subject line, postal address, or date. Keep the greeting, closing phrase, and name on separate lines.

The word count includes the greeting and signature. Count the completed email, not the unfilled template. The suggested practice target is not an additional exam requirement.
